Soldiers and Airmen with the California National Guard participated in BURN EX 2021, an incident awareness assessment exercise, with CAL FIRE, NASA, National Guard Bureau, and other partner agencies, at Camp Pendleton, McClellan Park (formerly Mclellan Air Base, March Air Reserve Base, Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, and Mather Airfield. The exercise consisted of using a Cal Guard MQ-9 Reaper and other aerial assets to monitor a controlled burn at Camp Pendleton. The footage was then sent to Cal Guard, CAL FIRE, and partner agencies for analysis and assessment.
