The Quadrangle at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, or the 'Quad,' as it is commonly known, is an iconic structure rich in history dating back to the end of the Civil War. The Quadrangle grounds house the headquarters of U.S. Army North, the Fort Sam Houston Museum, and a clock tower, as well as various animals including deer, peacocks, ducks, geese and koi fish. Built of local limestone between 1876 and 1878 as a supply depot and in continuous us by the Army to this day, it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
