Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 471, Marine Aircraft Group 41, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, brings the ground fight to Volk Field Air National Guard Base, Wis., for this year's Joint Exercise Northern Lightning, August 2021. Refuelers assisted and worked alongside Air National Guardsmen in refueling participating aircraft. Their support enabled pilots and aircrews participating in the exercise to increase their proficiency to operate in a contested environment with adversary aircraft, electronic jamming and simulated surface-to-air threats. Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center annually hosts Northern Lightning which focuses on the joint integration of 4th and 5th generation aircraft.
