On 21 Sep, the 422 Test & Evaluation Squadron (Nellis AFB) successfully executed the F-35A Full Weapon System Demonstration (FWSD) by releasing two B61-12 Joint Test Assets at Tonopah Test Range. This event is considered the “graduation” flight test event for Design Certification—a major milestone towards achieving F-35A nuclear certification! As a result, the F-35A DCA program remains on track to meet NATO’s January 2024 need date. The F-35 Joint Program Office is the Department of Defense's focal point for the 5th generation strike aircraft for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The F-35 is the premier multi-mission, 5th generation weapon system. Its ability to collect, analyze and share data is a force multiplier that enhances all assets in the battle-space: with stealth technology, advanced sensors, weapons capacity, and range.
