The Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) is the U.S. Navy’s only active decommissioned warship now outfitted with today’s technologies and weapon systems to provide the most realistic at-sea, live-fire combat scenarios for test events. New innovations and new weapons, as well as a trained crew both on board and on shore, are put through their paces aboard the SDTS using remote control capabilities. (U. S.
