Firefighters from the Gering Volunteer Fire Department call in a water drop from the crew of a Nebraska Army National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter carrying a 780-gallon "Bambi" water bucket while finishing off remaining hot spots on the Buffalo Creek fire Nov. 18, 2021, south of Scottsbluff and Gering in Nebraska's western panhandle. Nine soldiers and two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters were activated Monday, Nov. 15 by Governor Pete Ricketts and completed 176 water drops over four days before returning to home station Friday, Nov. 19, 2021.
