U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Ryan Gordinier, commanding officer, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, presents the French Fourragere to U.S. Marines and Sailors attached to the battalion prior to Exercise Cold Response 2022, Setermoen, Norway, March 1, 2022. 6th Marine Regiment has been donning the French Fourragere since it was awarded for their heroism and bravery in the Battle of Belleau Wood, Soissons, and Château-Thierry during World War I. The French Fourragere is to be worn only in dress and service coat uniforms while service members are attached to respective units. Exercise Cold Response '22 is a biennial Norwegian national readiness and defense exercise that takes place across Norway, with participation from each of its military services, as well as from 26 additional North Atlantic Treaty Organization allied nations and regional partners.
