Sgt. Jean-Baptiste Kanangwe, a public affairs mass communication specialist with the Army Reserve's 311th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), grew up in different countries in Africa, where he learned how to play many musical instruments for his father's church, ultimately landing in the U.S. to pursue his dream of filmmaking in Los Angeles. Kanangwe joined the Army Reserve when he heard about the benefits that it offers, particularly towards paying off school loans. He now has what he calls "the best job in the Army," and flawlessly blends his civilian and Army skillsets. This film explores how Kanangwe balances his military career and civilian pursuits through the common thread of his love for the arts. Published on April 19, 2022. (U.S. Army Reserve video by Sgt.
