Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany held a ceremony on May 24, 2022 to officially recognize and celebrate being the first installation in the Department of Defense to become electrically Net Zero. The ceremony was followed by a press conference with local and national media. Net Zero is defined as the production of as much electricity from renewable “green” energy sources as it consumes from its utility provider. This day is more than a decade in the making and involved the efforts of dozens within MCLB Albany and partnerships with the surrounding community. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Mary Estacion)
