U.S. Marines kicked off their participation in Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force UNITAS LXIII, the world’s longest-running multinational maritime exercise.
Since 1959, UNITAS has demonstrated a united stance of cultivating partnerships and ensuring security in Central and South America. Latin for unity, UNITAS continues to be the most important naval exercise in the US Southern Command's area of responsibility and trains forces to conduct joint maritime operations through the execution of anti-surface, anti-submarine, anti-air, amphibious and electronic warfare operations that enhance warfighting proficiency and increase interoperability among participating naval and marine forces.
