From seatbelts to personal protective equipment, safety is an inherent part of military culture. There is little most of us would not do to protect our teammates and loved ones and nowhere is this more critical than in the area of suicide prevention. Putting a few minutes of time and distance between someone in suicidal crisis and their access to lethal means (i.e., firearms, medications) can reduce suicide risk and save lives.
Join Brett Bass of the Washington State Safer Homes Coalition for an engaging discussion on how the military can lead the nation in suicide prevention through lethal means safety efforts.
The Safer Homes Coalition takes no position on today’s firearms issues and instead focuses on the common goal of saving lives through partnerships with firearms retailers, the Second Amendment Foundation, mental health providers, the National Rifle Association, suicide prevention experts and more.
