From October 11 to 21, 2022 the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division ROK/U.S. Combined Division conducted combat search and rescue training (CSAR) with the U.S. 7th Air Force as part of their semiannual training, fulfilling personnel recover requirements in the Korean theater of operations. The goal of the training exercise was to increase interoperability between U.S. Army rotary wing and U.S. Air Force fixed wing assets in recovering isolated personnel. UH-60M Blackhawk helicopters from the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division ROK/U.S. Combined Division facilitated the personnel recovery aspect of the training and A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft facilitated the area security aspect of the training. The CSAR mission is critical to the U.S. military in recovering service members who are behind enemy lines. (U.S. Army video by Capt. Frank Spatt)
