Airmen from the 482nd Fighter Wing took part in an agile combat exercise called Golden Gecko. Agile combat tests the innovation and grit of the Airmen and trains them for a new advanced warfare. They loaded up a C-17 with tools, armament, mechanics, and security personnel and traveled from Homestead Air Reserve Base to Avon Park's Arbuckle Field in Florida. Only using the personnel and tools that were brought from Homestead, the Airmen had to refuel, rearm, and redeploy 4 F-16 Fighting Falcons quickly. While all this was happening, another group of Airmen created a protective layer around the whole operation to ensure that both the personnel and equipment had 360 degrees of protection. After the fighters took off, all equipment and personnel had to be quickly loaded back into the C-17 Globemaster III and returned to Homestead.
