After coordination with GENCOM and the Polish Armed Forces, 8x Iron Eagles
were afforded the opportunity to conduct HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape
Training) at the Diving and Salvage Training Center in Gdynia, Poland over
the Thanksgiving Holiday. This two-day training consisted of water survival
skills, use of the Emergency Breathing System (EBS), and egressing a
submerged aircraft cabin in the Modular Egress Training Simulator (METS).
Our Iron Eagles culminated the training with a skills test and team-building
exercise involving egressing the METS in simulated storm conditions,
climbing rescue ladders/nets, jumping from a 5-meter platform, swimming to
overturned life raft, and rescuing unconscious personnel. The Iron Eagles
represented 1AD CAB with grit, determination, and professionalism while
receiving top-notch instruction from our Polish military partners.
