The 71st iteration of Operation Christmas Drop took to the sky at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Dec. 5, 2022 as senior leaders ceremoniously pushed the first pallet of donated goods into a C-130J Super Hercules. Over the course of 10 days, crews will airdrop donated food, supplies, educational materials, and tools to 56 islanders throughout the South-Eastern Pacific, including the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau. The international effort will allow Pacific Air Forces and partner nation Airmen to execute low-cost, low-altitude airdrop training, which will improve interoperability and communication for future real-world humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
