In early March 2023, contractors moved Building 1641 from the 1600 block to the 1700 block at Fort McCoy. The process made room for the construction of the fourth planned 4-story modern barracks building.
The move also saves hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars in new construction costs and preserves perfectly functional historic World War 2-era buildings on the installation.
