Kadena Air Base’s Air Park static display was restored and repainted from Oct. 2022 to March 2023. The historical aircraft suffered rust damage and corrosion over the years from the humid environment of Okinawa, Japan. Brig. Gen. David Eaglin, 18th Wing commander, pivoted wing leadership’s efforts away from the costly deconstruction of the aircraft, and instead focused on restoring them at a lower cost. The restoration process took five months.
Kadena’s Air Park consists of aircraft including an F-15A Eagle, F-4C Phantom, F-86F Sabre, F-105 Thunderchief, F-100 Super Sabre, T-33A Shooting Star and CT-39A Sabreliner. (U.S. Air Force video by Senior Airman Gary Hilton and Senior Airman Sebastian Romawac)
