Humacao, Puerto Rico, February 24, 2021-FEMA allocated nearly $2.2 million to the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources and the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust, also known as Para la Naturaleza, in support of the recovery of areas of significant ecological value around the island. The allocation includes the following funding for various natural ecosystems:
$700,000 for the Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve in Fajardo.
$650,000 for Cayo Ratones in Cabo Rojo.
$544,000 for the Iris Alameda Wildlife Refuge in Cabo Rojo.
$285,000 for the Efraín Archilla Diez Natural Reserve in Humacao.
$17,000 for the Medio Mundo y Daguao Natural Reserve in the area between Ceiba and Naguabo.
