Soldiers participate in the Expert Field Medical Badge, run by the Central Medical Area Readiness Support Group, on Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. More than 40 medical soldiers from active and reserve components have gathered to test themselves to the extreme physically and mentally. The Expert Field Medical Badge is one of the highest marks of proficiency a medical soldier can earn. The contestants started with a physical fitness challenge, as well as a land navigation course that needed to be conquered during the day and at night. Only a small percentage get to earn the badge each year (only 3% of the Army has earned this badge total).
