Members of the United States Coast Guard working with West Coast-based Naval special operators conducted a hoist training maneuver to simulate a casualty rescue floating off the coast of Valdez, Alaska, on May 17, 2023 during ARCTIC EDGE 2023. This training event illustrates interoperability between the two services as well as sharpen their skills. ARCTIC EDGE 2023 (AE23) is a U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise demonstrating the U.S. military's capabilities in extreme cold weather, joint force readiness, and U.S. military commitment to mutual strategic security interests in the Arctic region.
