The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD-1) passes United States Army Garrison - Fort Hamilton, and sails under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge on May 24th, 2023, marking the official start of Fleet Week NYC. The ship's impressive presence is accompanied by a salute from members of the Veteran Corp of Artillery State of NY, who fire cannons from Fort Hamilton to welcome the fleet. This annual event, FWNY 2023, provides an opportunity for the American public to meet Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen while experiencing firsthand the latest capabilities of today's maritime services.
