The 787th Civil Engineering Squadron (CES) partnered with Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) and 502d Air Base Wing (ABW) remote sensing experts to capture and preserve historical buildings with modern remote sensing technology. GeoBase is the Department Of The Air Force's (DAF) Program with the mission to Deliver Trusted Geospatial Engineering Data, Maps, and Services to Build, Maintain, and Recover Power Projection Platforms. As part of this mission, GeoBase personnel integrate modern remote sensing and other location-enabled technologies to support numerous DAF missions, including those protecting and preserving our nation's heritage.
GeoBase uses a variety of 3D remote sensing technologies, including laser scanning, photogrammetry, and ground-penetrating radar, to create detailed digital models of historical buildings.
