The 841st Missile Security Forces Squadron, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., conducted Operation Avalanche Defender, a simulated deployment exercise, at Fort William Henry Harrison, Helena, Mont., May 30 through June 2.
Defenders at Malmstrom have the primary mission of recapturing and recovering launch facilities which are spread far and wide across the missile complex in Montana. Avalanche Defender practiced the critical skillset of seizing initiative and pressing the offense against an enemy force, which is necessary to successfully fight in the future and deliver airpower to deter and stop aggression by a peer adversary.
