This ceremony honors the brave 82nd Airborne Paratroopers of 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment and 325th Glider, who landed in Sainte-Mère-Église in the early hour of June 6, 1944 and subsequently fought and liberated the La Fiere Causeway, enabling the eventual liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny.
