The 728th Airlift Squadron went to the Netherlands to retrieve a tailwheel of the Lucky Lady, a 728th Bombardment Squadron B-17 that was shot down during WWII on May 27, 2023, at Midwoud, Netherlands. Partnering with local historians, community leaders, and descendants of the lost crew members, the 728th AS also spent the trip standing together with European allies to support the Memorial Day Ceremonies at the World War One and World War Two cemeteries in the Netherlands
