Reserve Soldiers from Army Reserve Medical Command and the 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support) worked with United States Military Academy cadets to execute the Summer Leaders Experience hosted in West Point, New York. Led by current cadets, SLE is an opportunity for rising high school seniors to experience a week-long immersion into the academic, military, and social life of a West Point cadet. It gives them a chance to explore West Point from all angles, including high-tech educational facilities, team-building athletic activities, and realistic military training. Army Reserve medical personnel provided on-site medical care to prospective cadets (high school students) and cadre (current USMA cadets) if injured during the event. This allowed many to return quickly to the event rather than losing hours or days from the event if they were seen at Keller Army Community Hospital. The Army Reserve medical personnel ensured participants received prompt on-site treatment for minor injuries which also avoided overwhelming hospital staff.
