The 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. David H. Berger, relinquished the office of Commandant of the Marine Corps to Gen. Eric M. Smith during a ceremony at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. on July 10, 2023. Until a new Commandant is confirmed by the Senate and appointed to the position, Gen.
