Brigadier General Carter Ham, Commanding General of Task Force Olympia, says to an ABC reporter, the violence in Mosul happened in support of actions in Fallujah. Groups of young men attacked Iraqi security forces, Iraqi infrastructure, and Iraqi government facilities. Says there were six or seven police stations controlled by enemy forces for about 30 to 45 minutes. Also attacks on Iraqi media network, controlled by Iraqi National Guard. Brig. Gen. Ham says the Iraqi Minister of Interior made decision to let the Chief of Police go because police did not perform as expected during the attacks. Ten Iraqi National Guardsmen were killed while securing bridges and conducting offensive operations.
