U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul D. Rogers, the Adjutant General of Michigan, and
Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš, Latvian Chief of Defense, join distinguished guests to unveil a monument dedicated to Latvian soldiers who lost their lives in a 2009 Afghanistan deployment. This event takes place during Exercise Northern Strike 2023 on Camp Grayling, Michigan, Aug. 12, 2023. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Michigan-Latvia state partnership and the state of Michigan is honored to serve side-by-side with Latvia and will continue to strengthen the state partnership for years to come.
