U.S. Air National Guardsmen from the 110th Medical Group test innovative technology to treat simulated field trauma during Exercise Northern Strike 23 (NS23), Alpena, Michigan, Aug. 14, 2023. The test involved using augmented reality glasses meant to relay a patient’s condition in the field to an overseeing physician in real-time. Other innovations included wearable software that documents patient status that can be transferred to higher levels of care and the introduction of unmanned drones capable of delivering life-saving medicine into active environments. Exercise NS23 is a premiere reserve component training event that integrates both U.S. and partner nations to build interoperability and strengthen partnerships in an all-domain environment.
