U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Hasanein Alrushdawi, a motor vehicle operator with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 273, speaks about his life and career at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, Aug. 17, 2023. Alrushdawi, a native of Baghdad, Iraq, joined the Marine Corps after being inspired by his father's work as an interpreter alongside U.S. armed forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout his childhood, Alrushdawi and his family faced poverty and life-threatening situations, which forced the family to leave their home country.
