Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric M. Smith and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Carlos A. Ruiz visit Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Sept. 12, 2023. The scheduled visit allowed the ACMC and SMMC to meet with Marines and Sailors assigned to the air station where they addressed questions posed by non-commissioned officers in an open town hall forum at MCAS Iwakuni’s USO, presented a coin and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals to three Marines at the air station’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Truck Deck, and performed on-the-spot promotions for two Marines with Marine Aircraft Group 12 at Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 242’s hangar.
