U.S. Marines assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii participate in an interment ceremony held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, OCT. 16, 2023. Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and attending family members paid their respects and honored the life of U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Arthur B. Ervin, 22, killed during World War II who was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Ervin was accounted for on JUNE 21, 2022, who was part of the invasion force of the island of Saipan in a larger effort to capture the Mariana Islands from Japan.
