Writing History in the Modern Era (Jim DeFelice, New York Times Bestselling Author)
Author Jim DeFelice will discuss working with participants and capturing first-hand accounts of history with
subjects such as “American Sniper” Chris Kyle. The conversation will include how DeFelice reconciles those
accounts with research and how chronicling the personal perceptions of those who lived through historic events
differ from creating an all-encompassing, third person narrative. The conversation will be facilitated by Michael
Steinmacher, Library Director, Ivy Tech Community College and former Supervisory Librarian, USAG Fort Knox.
DeFelice will take audience questions.
