Family and service members gather to reflect on the 70 years the fourth 137th commander, (Ret.) Maj. Gen. Stanley F.H. Newman, dedicated to the wing and to the Oklahoma Air National Guard. Newman flew 57 combat missions with the 9th Air Force in Europe during World War II and was credited with shooting down the last German plane of the war. He continued his service in both the Korean War and Vietnam War. Newman will continue to stand as a pillar of patriotism and service within our community for Airmen.
