The Delaware National Guard welcomed home deployed members from the Delaware Army Guard’s 245th Operations Support Airlift Agency, Jan. 7, 2024, at the DNG’s Army Aviation Support Facility in New Castle, Del.
The seven Guard Soldiers returned from a 10-month deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve.
Maj. Gen. Michael Berry, Adjutant General for the DNG, spoke on the adaptability of the C-12 aircraft and their aircrews allowing them to conduct missions for two separate operations during one deployment.
“The uniqueness and adaptability of this aircraft, paired with the professionalism and expertise of the pilots who fly and [the] NCOs who maintain that aircraft present an opportunity to our combatant commanders,” Berry said. “They truly are a force multiplier to the ground forces’ commander, who are responsible for their safety.”
Delaware Governor John Carney also attended to welcome the service members on behalf of the State.
“I’ve just been incredibly impressed with the men and women in the Delaware Army and Air National Guard.” Carney said. “The service and sacrifice that they make for our state…I don’t think there’s been another time in our history where the Guard has been called on to do more than they have, than during my time as your Governor.
The Delaware Guard aviators returned during the 2023 holiday season, to be able to spend with friends and family.
