MAJ Ashley Coffey, an information officer assigned to Special Operations Detachment - Pacific (SOD-P), tells the story of her father, a former Air Force Special Operations Command loadmaster, who served in Cobra Gold in 1989 and participated in 9 total iterations of the exercise. She is proud to continue her family’s legacy, not only for her family, but for the Washington Army National Guard as well. Cobra Gold, now in its 43rd iteration, is the largest joint exercise in mainland Asia and a concrete example of the strong alliance and strategic relationship between Thailand and the United States.
