U.S. Navy Sailors with the amphibious docking ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) and U.S. Marines with the maritime raid force and Battalion Landing Team 1/1, both with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct boat operations, off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 2 - 3, 2024. The reconnaissance and surveillance exercise as well as a subsequent boat raid exercise built upon the Navy’s and Marine Corps’ ability to work together for the successful launch and recovery of combat rubber raiding craft for rapid ship-to-shore operations. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
