U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Elizabeth Ross, 102nd Intelligence Wing Emergency Manager, explains the role of an Emergency Management Specialist on Otis Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts. The main responsibilities of an Emergency Management Specialist (3E9X1) are: Protect personnel from the effects caused by incidents involving weapons of mass destruction; Perform advanced training exercises and disaster simulations; Develop emergency response plans to ensure the safety of fellow Airmen. After graduating from this AFSC’s 73-day technical school at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Airmen will be trained for response and recovery operations during natural or man-made disasters.
