U.S. Marines with Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA(AW)) 224, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, take off in participation of a sinking exercise during Exercise Valiant Shield, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, June 16, 2024. VMFA(AW)-224, the “Fighting Bengals,” are based out of Beaufort, South Carolina and currently are augmenting MAG-12 as a part of their Unit Deployment Program. Exercises, such as Valiant Shield, give the Indo-Pacific Command Joint Forces the opportunity to integrate forces from all branches of service and with our allies to conduct precise, lethal, and overwhelming multi-axis, multi-domain effects that demonstrate the strength and versatility of the Joint Force and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
