The Washington Air National Guard conducted its Change of Command ceremony on June 27, 2024 at Camp Murray, WA. On this day, Brig. Gen. Gent Welsh officially passed command of the Washington Air National Guard to Brig. Gen. Kenneth Borchers. The presiding officer for the ceremony was Maj. Gen. Bret Daugherty, the Adjutant General of the Washington National Guard. Brig. Gen. Gent Welsh was awarded the Legion of Merit for his meritorious service. As incoming commander, Brig. Gen. Kenneth Borchers will be responsible for 2,100 citizen-airmen and overseeing the 141st Air Refueling Wing in Spokane, the 194th Wing on Camp Murray, and the Western Air Defense Sector at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
