Marines and sailors with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment test the new infantry battalion organization construct during phase two of the Infantry Battalion Experiment at Marine Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California, in August. Phase two of IBX demonstrated Marine leadership at the company level exercising more command and control of its Marines in a distributed environment, while employing new technologies to further enhance tactical employment of forces. Company level staff will now have more autonomy to conduct logistics, communications, intelligence and employ unmanned aerial systems. The IBX will conclude upon the completion of 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment's unit deployment program sometime in 2025.
