World War II reenactors and U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division participated in the reenactment. 48 U.S. Soldiers gave their lives in the water beneath the historic Waal River Bridge on Sept. 20, 1944, while securing it from Nazi control during the Allied invasion of Europe and the liberation of the Netherlands.
