1st Battalion, 168th General Support Aviation Brigade (1-168th GSAB) conducted a Change of command and change of responsibility ceremony at the Army Aviation Sustainment Facility, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington on May 17, 2010. Col. Wallace Turner served as the reviewing officer for the ceremony. On this day, Lt. Col. David Caporicci relinquished command of the 1-168th GSAB to Lt. Col. Daniel Dent. Lt. Col. Caporicci received the Meritorious Service Medal. While serving as the Battalion Commander, Lt. Col Caporicci ensured effective and professional responses to state emergency operations, as well as preparations to conduct full spectrum aviation operations in support of overseas contingency operations.
The 1-168th GSAB change of responsibility was between outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Boyer and incoming Command Sgt. Maj. William Spaulding. The change of responsibility serves the dual function of rendering honors on the departing command sergeant major and providing official recognition of the transfer of authority to the incoming command sergeant Major. Command Sgt. Maj. Boyer was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding and meritorious service in performance of his duty as battalion command sergeant major for the 1-168th GSAB.
