U.S. Marines with Bravo Co., 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division and members of partner nation forces conduct dive operations during Exercise UNITAS LXV in Vina del Mar Chile, Sept. 5, 2024. The dive operations consisted of several iterations of timed underwater navigation at 20 feet below sea level. The iterations were conducted at various distances. UNITAS, taking place in Chile this year, is the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.
