BACH Commander Col. Sam Preston and Command Sgt. Maj. Gary Petty share more about the safe and quality efforts the surgical team makes to ensure you and your families receive the highest care available. With BACH’s surgical team adhering to maintaining a high standard of safe and quality care to all their patients, they immediately began rescheduling non-emergent surgeries after requesting an unscheduled sterile processing equipment maintenance. These rescheduled surgeries are for non-emergent surgery cases and are reliant on the use of the sterilization equipment needing maintenance.
All surgical cases performed before this unscheduled equipment maintenance were validated to be safe and effective.
The team is aggressively working other reliable equipment options to return to normal sterile processing procedures where the BACH surgical team can support all surgical needs soon. It is anticipated for this to take at least two weeks to be resolved before all surgeries non-emergent and emergency surgeries continue. With the BACH team maintaining an adequate supply of emergency surgical sterilization kits, emergency surgery cases are not affected and will continue at Blanchfield.
