Rct. David Steinbach, Platoon 2102, Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, goes through an obstacle on a combat training course Nov. 18, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The course, part of Basic Warrior Training, required recruits to work in teams of two or four as they rushed to cover from simulated enemy fire. BWT introduces recruits to basic field skills all Marines must know. The basic combat training recruits receive while on Parris Island will be broadened after boot camp at advanced training in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
