NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY SOUDA BAY, Greece (Feb. 14, 2023) Sailors assigned to the Lewis B. Puller-class expeditionary sea base USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4) load pallets of disaster relief aid onto the ship in support of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts for Türkiye on Feb. 14, 2023. Following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Türkiye on Feb. 6, 2023, U.S. military forces assigned to U.S. European Command are providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in support of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), and the international community to the Turkish people during this tragedy. NSA Souda Bay is an operational ashore installation which enables and supports U.S., Allied, Coalition, and Partner nation forces to preserve security and stability in the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
