U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, utilize a combat rubber raiding craft to transit to shore after helocasting from a CH-53E Super Stallion at Kin Blue Beach, Okinawa, Japan, on March 22, 2023. Helocasting is an airborne technique that allows Marines to insert from an aircraft into any body of water with all their gear and a mode of transportation. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corp’s only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
