U.S. Army Soldiers from Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment, along with Air Force Airmen from the 127th Medical Group, 127th Wing, Michigan Air National Guard, and the 911th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, 911th Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, collaborate in the evacuation of a simulated casualty as a Critical Care Air Transport Team from Grayling Army Airfield during Northern Strike 2023, Aug. 15, 2023. CCATTs are utilized to augment regular aeromedical evacuation aircrews when patients with critical illnesses or injuries necessitate continuous monitoring, stabilization, or intricate medical care during transit to a medical treatment facility.
Northern Strike is one of the National Guard’s largest joint, readiness producing exercises, held annually at Michigan’s National All-Domain Warfighting Center, which consists of Camp Grayling, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, the Selfridge Air National Guard Base and other training areas. This year’s exercise will involve approximately 7,000 personnel consisting of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, Special Operations Forces, Emergency Response Teams and allies/foreign partners from 65 military units, 13 States and four countries.
